Panelling Your House Wall
Step by Step Instructions
It does not matter what size or shape the room is that you want to decorate with Wall Panelling Ltd.
How many panels do I need?
- Decide what design of panels you want, how high and what walls you want to cover
- N.B. First take each wall as a separate project, ( so as not to get over complicated )
- Measure the length of the first wall you wish to cover, in mm. Then number Wall 1. Move to the next wall, measure and then number Wall 2. Repeat the process on each wall as you go along
E.g.:
Wall 1. =4568mm
Wall 2. =1168mm
Wall 3. = 435mm
Wall 4. =2035mm
Wall 5. = 439mm
Wall 6. =1564mm
Wall 7. =4552mm
Wall 8. =3880mm
- *NOTE it does NOT matter which wall you want to start with, Wall 1. Can be any wall you wish, and of coarse you do not need to cover every wall in the room. ( E.g. in Room 2. In the examples below, if you only want to decorate three walls, your list would be ):
Wall
1. =4568mm
Wall 2. =1168mm
Wall 3. = 435mm
- Now you have chosen the panel design and measured the walls now its time to decide what panel width you would like from our product range and then divide into the walls length. (i.e. in the examples we will take Room 3, Wall 10. This can be worked out in several different ways); -[Work to the nearest 100mm below the size, this is explained below, see N.B.]
Wall 10 =4075mm long = 4000mm =
4 panels at 1000mm wide
Or 8 panels at 500mm wide
Or 10 panels at 400mm wide
Or 3 panels at 200mm and
3 panels at 1200mm wide
N.B. Don't worry if the panel widths you have chosen do not divide exactly into the dimension of your wall, this excess or short fall is compensated for in the Left Hand and Right Hand side panels for each wall. ( Discussed later in the fitting instructions ).
You should now have the quantity of panels you need for each wall it's that simple.
When ordering your panels if we have not already quoted for you're project, please add the dimensions of each wall in the comments section of our order form.
If you have not understood this section please do not worry go to the order form, fill out the Quote section of the order form and we will work out the quantity for you.
Can I easily fit the panels myself?
Yes, it is easy to fit Wall Panelling Ltd, but if after reading these instructions you feel unsure, either fill out the comments section of our e-mail page, or telephone and ask for the installation division.
How do I fit Wall Panelling Ltd?
- First, as in any DIY project you need to prepare the surfaces ( s ), remove the skirting board and wall paper to the height of the panels.
- Always start from the right hand side of the wall.
- If the length of the wall that you want to cover ( for instance Wall 1.) will need more than one panel you will then have received two specially cut panels, one will be marked.
Wall 1. LHS ( Left hand side ) and the other
Wall 1. RHS ( Right hand side ).
If the length of the wall that you want to cover ( for instance Wall 1.) will need more than one panel you will then have received two specially cut panels, one will be marked;
Wall 1. LHS ( Left hand side ) and
the other Wall 1. RHS ( Right hand side ).
Depending on the length of the wall or on the width size of panels used there may be centre panels.
(i.e. Wall 1. 200mm long =1 panel at 1200mm wide
or 2 panels at 600mm wide [one marked Wall 1.LHS &
one marked Wall 1. RHS ]
or 6 panels at 200mm wide [one marked Wall 1.LHS, four marked Centre &
one marked Wall 1. RHS ).
- Place the panel marked Wall 1. RHS ( if starting on wall 2 then use Wall 2. RHS panel ) up to the walls right hand side and ensure that it is level and square ( trimming the panel if necessary to compensate for untrue walls )
N.B. Each right and left end panel is a 100mm wider to compensate for walls which do not measure exactly on the 100mm mark and for wall being untrue.
Fix
to your wall using Liquid Nails or similar. To hold the panel level and
square pin the flange on the left hand side of the panel to the wall. You may in some circumstances need to nail some of your panels to your wall, depending on the age, size of your wall.
Slide
the next panel into position locating it in the grooves and align to
the previous panel, fix and pin in place. Repeat this process until
you get to the LHS of the wall.( again modifying Wall 1. LHS panel ).
Diagram below shows four panels, right hand side, two centres & a left-hand side
